GNSS Systems Engineer (Reston)

As we build a new team in Reston, VA, we're looking for engineers and technologists ready to be pioneers in the application of emerging tools and techniques, maintaining the highest reliability demanded by aerospace while bringing forth new products and capabilities at a brisk pace.
This is a fully onsite position in our Reston, VA office location. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government.

As a System Designer, you will contribute to the full development of the lifecycle of our next-generation Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. Working within the GNSS engineering team, you will help design best-in-class system and software solutions for our customers. In this role, you will apply and maintain the rigorous development standards required in the avionics industry while advancing GNSS best practices and developing innovative solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of new GNSS system solutions that will revolutionize the aerospace industry in accordance with company standard and industry methodologies
- Design GNSS systems that will meet and exceed the performance required by the industry
- Participate in all phases of the development including peer reviews
- Resolve multiple technical challenges related to new and existing technologies
- Review detailed execution plans and schedules with the project management team to ensure adequacy, completeness, and harmonization with the overall program level plan
- Generate system requirements documents for physical and logical interfaces
- Define cockpit display formats and control operations in conjunction with the customer
- Support Change Management related activities at the program level
- Meet with customers occasionally to understand their challenges and propose valuable solutions
- Act as a key player in the development, integration, and formalization phases of our GNSS receiver solutions
How to excel in this role (Job Requirements):
- Bachelor of science in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in GNSS development
- Deep knowledge and pertinent experience on GPS/GNSS receiver theory, design, and application
- Excellent ability to communicate complex information to technical and non-technical users
- Advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and design skills
- Strong mathematical skills
- High Speed Signal acquisition and analysis, FPGA, ASICS
- Experience working closely with AEH and SW developers in the implementation and validation of the requirements

- Familiar with Requirements management systems (DOORS)

- Familiar with minimum operational performance requirements DO-229, DO-253, DO-401
- Familiar with simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink
- Familiar with Communication protocols (RS-232, RS-422, A-429, Ethernet, etc.)
- Experience in avionics development

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range:
Level II: $85,000 - $107,000
Level III: $100,000 - $135,000
Level IV: $125,000 - $165,000
