SUMMARY:

 

The technical specialist engineering class 4 works under the supervisor of an engineer or his delegate. Performs a variety of functions associate with the optical, electrical, electronic, mechanicai and/or chemical disciplines. Performs all the following fundamental activities with some involvement in one or more of the related specialized activities under a closer degree of supervision. Where only the fundamenl activities are involved, these could be performed under limited control and supervision.

 

TASKS:

 

Basic activities:

  • Design of products, systems, processes, equipment and parts thereof.
  • Design, modifications anti caintenance of test or productionequipment and jigs.
  • Generation of associated documentation required for the production of engineering models,etc.
  • Assembly and construction of breadboard, optical test sysems and prototypes.
  • Test and diagnosis of equipment and processes malfunction.
  • Environmental testing of equipment and control over test records.
  • Installations of complex and sophisticated systems for test purposes under a variety of requirements.
  • Preparation of specifications for equipment and process and/or interpretation of specifications to deternine equipment requirements.
  • Perform optical engineering tests.

 

Related specialized activities :

  • Writing of test integration programs up to black box level.
  • Development and initiation of corrective action to prevent recurrence of malfunction.
  • Technical analysis to establish trends, predictions and procedures to obtain results sor data for selected accuracy level.
  • Technical analysis to determine reliability.
  • Technical analysis to determine field maintainability.
  • The ahove-listed activities are performed at the following level of complexity: applies established methods or analysis which required experience in adapting methods to a variety of circumstance. 
  • Assists design originators. Plans and executes design based on specified operational plan, applying conventional well established engineering practices in an area of limited scope, parts of broader assignments.
  • Guides and precedents are applicable. Selects and develops designs ancl/or specifications which will satisfy criteria and requirements. Not required to design or develop complete design projects.
  • Occasionaly gives technical direction to other technicians, if required.
  • Performs any other related task as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • College diploma in engineering physics preferably, electronics,
  • industrial, mechanical or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in optics, either in
  • research and development or engineering.
  • Related experience on a variety of associated functions of the different
  • responsibilities listed above.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Proficiency in VB test programs with integrated databases.
  • Proficiency in instrument pilot class creation
  • Proficiency in electrical diagram programs.
  • Good knowledge of  civil and military standards and practices  MIL
  • PRF-38534, MIL-STD-883 et IPC, ANSI Z-136.1
  • Good knowledge of French and English.
  • Good Communications skills
