Reporting to the Director of Airworthiness & Quality Engineering, the Airworthiness Systems Specialist is responsible for making Findings of Compliance that establish Type Design compliance to the Certification Basis (Canadian Technical Standards Orders (TSOs) & Non-TSO functional requirements). The incumbent serves as the primary liaison with Transport Canada for avionics certification and leads certification-related presentations.

As a System Specialist your key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare certification plans for CMC products to obtain CAN-TSO Design Approval from Transport Canada.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between CMC and Transport Canada for avionics certification activities.
  • Manage avionics safety and compliance for subsystems in accordance with SAE ARP 4761/4754A.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews to ensure development meets certification basis and airworthiness standards.
  • Prepare and deliver the declaration of conformity and draft Type Certificate Data Sheet.
  • Review and approve continuing airworthiness instructions, Engineering Change Orders, and Service Bulletins.

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a high-technology civil aviation TSO certification environment or military aerospace program.
  • Strong knowledge of civil airborne safety system standards (SAE ARP 4761 & 4754A, AC 2X.1309, MIL-HDBK-882/217F).
  • Sound understanding of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
