Project Engineer (Sugar Grove, IL)

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Lead will be responsible for the organization, coordination, and control of all stages of assigned projects. The Project Lead plays a pivotal role in project development by being the main interface between the Engineering team and other groups within the client. Projects involve hardware and software development of certified aircraft systems.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare Engineering Estimates and Development Plans;
  • Lead engineering project teams in order to respect budget, schedule and ensure quality deliveries;
  • Execute the engineering development plan, which includes identifying and anticipating problems that could hinder or adversely limit the project's objectives;
  • Work with other departments such as Program Management, Certification, Safety & Reliability, Quality and Manufacturing;
  • Maintain the engineering work standards and processes;
  • Evaluation of technical risk, mitigation and contingency;
  • Produce and present progress reports for management review;
  • Maintain technical expertise;
  • Support continuous product improvement and innovation.

To join our team, you must:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering or Computer Science;
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in hardware or software design in the field of avionics or military products using development process and designing to quality standards (such as RTCA/DO-254, DO-160, DO-178C, MIL-STD-810 or MIL-STD-461);
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management in the field of avionics or military products;
  • Demonstrated success in the execution and leadership of complex projects requiring cost and schedule performance management and risk management;
  • Demonstrated understanding of requirements management for the development of hardware and/or software systems;
  • Knowledge of the relevant functional TSO compliances;
  • French/English bilingualism an advantage;
  • Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated toolsets an advantage;
  • Knowledge of the relevant functional TSO compliances;
  • Working knowledge of FAA TSO, FARs, AC and STC regulations and procedures an advantage;
  • Certification FAR PART 23/25 related experience an advantage.
