As a member of the Software Airworthiness/Quality group, the incumbent works closely with the software development team to provide assurance that the qualification to RTCA DO-178B/C and customer specific requirements are met. The candidate clearly understands the compliance aspects to the various Design Assurance Levels for the software, as well as the software performance in an integrated environment.

 

As a Scientist - Airworthiness and software quality assurance your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Provide design assurance guidance to software development teams with respect to DO-178B/C and customer specific requirements as well as Military standards;
  • Be the point of reference for all aspects of DO-178B/C and other required software standards a given project;
  • Provide support to Software Delegate for reviews and approval of the Plan for Software Aspects of Certification (PSAC), the Change Impact Analysis (CIA) and the other planning documents;
  • Be fully familiar with and performs Transport Canada or Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Job-Aids for Stages of Involvement (SOI) certifications audits (Planning, Implementation, Verification and Validation, and Closure);
  • Generate minutes of meeting and tracks action items to closure of all certification audits;
  • Participate in the formal peer reviews conducted by the software development team as well as
  • witnesses’ formal tests performed by the software development team on an as required basis;
  • Perform in-process audits of the requirements, design, code, test cases/procedures. Generates
  • quality audits and quality action items in CMC’s tracking tool.

 

To join our team, you must have:

  • University degree in Engineering or Computer Science;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in software development projects and processes
  • Be eligible to be recognized as a Transport Canada Delegate
  • Knowledgeable in avionics products
  • Knowledgeable with applying DO-178C and its supplements to avionics software programs. Familiar with flow down of System requirements to Software; understands traceability, top-down and bottom up using tools such as DOORS.
  • Very good communication skills (both written and oral) in French and English.
