Engineering Manager - EFIS

SUMMARY

Reporting to an Engineering Director, you lead a multi-disciplinary team in the development of Electronic Flight and Instrument Systems (EFIS) functions. You ensure manage a group of SW engineers and ensure flawless execution of all EFIS projects within the integrated solutions business.. You are responsible to deliver projects within budget, schedule, and specified performance and quality. You ensure the evolution of EFIS product and continuously promote excellence, innovation, and competitiveness.

ROLES AND RESPONSABILITIES

Product Technical Leadership

 

  • Provide technical leadership for EFIS functions
  • Takes responsibility that all engineering development documents are well written.
  • Approve forecasts for internally funded R & D projects under their responsibility
  • Develops product Concept Documents

Project, Staff Planning, and Development

 

  • Provide engineering estimates and technical development plans for proposals
  • Develop the resource plans for the engineering team, and ensure availability to meet the needs of the business unit plans and forecasts.
  • Hire, develop and train the staff
  • Foster senior staff succession plans and cross training of junior staff assigned to the project
  • Foster senior technical staff participation in aviation standards committees such as RTCA, AEEC, and SAE

   Coordination with CMC Leadership

 

  • Work in collaboration with the Core technology group and the BU engineering manager on issues such as product development, business development, product roadmap and medium-term and long-term development plans.
  • Represent CMC at meetings and reviews with customers.
  • Participate in productivity improvement, strategic plan development and strategic initiatives, such as reviewing engineering processes with a view to improve quality and reduce costs and schedule, and ensure they are rigorously applied to all projects.

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Master degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering would be an asset
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience of relevant experience in the development, validation and/or verification of commercial/military avionics systems (FMS, Sensors, Displays, Autopilot, MCDU)
  • Experience developing real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software integration.
  • Solid experience with DO-178B/C and its annexes DO-33x
  • Combination of strong technical, leadership and managerial skills
  • Strong knowledge of Airworthiness certification processes for military and commercial aircraft
  • Experienced in requirement definition and management
  • Experience in managing civil and military certification programs
  • Bilingualism (oral and written French and English).
