The Director, Accounting reports to the VP Finance & IT, and is responsible for Overhead costs, Fixed Assets, Costs of Sales, Inventories and providing the Vice-President and Corporate Management with financial results, analysis and financial planning.

 

Working closely with the Vice-President, the Director, Accounting will provide financial advice and guidance to help the company achieve its objectives. He has overall financial responsibility for the budgets, forecasts, strategic plans, capital expenditures, financial reporting, Trade compliance and compliance to CMC/Transdigm policies.

As a Director, Accounting, your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and submit for review with Corporate Management an operating budget by assessing and consolidating the inputs and ensuring that they are achievable with the available resources, and consistent with company policies and profit targets.
  • Analyze on a monthly basis, variances, performance against budget, trends, risks and opportunities, key drivers and sensitivities. Highlight and report significant operational and financial performance issues to management and recommend actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the BU long term forecast by providing advice and financial models for the formulation of strategies and goals.
  • Review and approve all capital appropriations and manage fixed assets.
  • Prepare and negotiate labour, overhead and G & A rates with the Department of Public Works and Government Services financial representatives for use in proposals and contracts. Also conduct regular reviews of actual results to ensure that negotiated rates are sufficient to achieve budgeted profit levels and re-negotiate revisions when necessary.
  • Drive new initiatives that improve accounting and reporting efficiency, to best-in-class benchmarks.
  • Review inventory position, accounts receivable, expense ledgers and all other asset and liability accounts to ensure that they are reconciled and that they accurately reflect the financial position of the BU.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Finance team operates efficiently, minimizing waste and maximizing the use of its resources. Periodic reviews are conducted with business leaders to encourage cost-consciousness and reductions where possible.
  • Manage the Compliance team to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, generally accepted accounting principles and Canada’s Trade Regulations, including export restrictions.
  • Maintain close collaboration with the rest of the company to review and resolve financial issues.
  • Liaise with external auditors and efficiently address all audit requirements.
  • Performs any other related tasks as assigned.

 

To join our team, you must hold :

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
  • Recognized accounting title (CPA).
  • Minimum ten (10) years or more of experience in Finance.
  • Experience in Cost Accounting.
  • Knowledge of “Lean” principles is a plus.
  • High level of autonomy and communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Fluently Bilingual (French and English), oral and written.
  • Well organized.
  • Works well under pressure and short deadlines.
  • A strong knowledge of Excel is required.
  • BAAN knowledge is a plus.
  • Essbase and Onestream knowledge is a plus.
  • PowerBI experience is a plus.
