Reporting to an Engineering Director, you lead a multi-disciplinary team in the development of the necessary platform software that runs on the CMC hardware and that provides an API for theApplication development. This includes development or integration of firmware, boot loaders,BIOS as well as operating system kernels and BSPs. You manage a group of SW engineers andensure flawless execution of platform software within the integrated solutions business. You areresponsible to deliver projects within budget, schedule, and specified performance and quality.

You ensure the evolution of platform product and continuously promote excellence, innovation,and competitiveness.

 

As a Platform Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities include: 

·       Leadership:

o   In charge of managing an engineering team. Strong leadership skills are  essential for:

§  Employee engagement

§  Resolving conflicts

§  Assigning roles for success

o   Ensure that all engineering development documentation are as per required quality and standards

o   Participate in productivity improvement, strategic plan development and strategic initiatives, such as reviewing engineering processes with a view to improve quality and reduce costs and schedule, and ensure they are rigorously applied to all projects

o   Work in collaboration with the Core technology group and the Business Unit engineering manager on issues such as product development, business development, product roadmap and medium-term and long-term development plans.

o   Develop the resource plans for the engineering team, and ensure availability to meet the needs of the business unit plans and forecasts.

·       Communication

o   Effective communication to team members to ensure adherence to project assignments and deadlines

o   Regular communication to senior management on project progress and team needs

o   Represent CMC at meetings and reviews with customers

o   Hire, develop and train the staff

o   Foster senior staff succession plans and cross training of junior staff assigned to the project

o   Foster senior technical staff participation in aviation standards committees such as RTCA, AEEC, and SAE

·       Technical

o   Provide technical leadership for platform related functions

o   Understand project needs and propose new designs or products

o   Approve forecasts for internally funded R & D projects

o   Develops product Concept Documents

o    Provide engineering estimates and technical development plans for proposals

 

To join our team, you must have:

 

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience or relevant experience in the development, validation
  • and/or verification of commercial/military avionics platform systems
  • Experience developing real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software
  • integration.
  • Solid experience with DO-178B/C and its annexes DO-33x.
  • Combination of strong technical, leadership and managerial skills
  •  Strong knowledge of Airworthiness certification processes for military and commercial aircraft.
  • Experienced in requirement definition and management.
  • Experience in managing civil and military certification programs.
  • Bilingual (oral and written French and English).
  • Knowledge of graphical language used in avionics industry (OpenGL ES) and graphic
  • architecture would be an asset
  • Knowledge of avionics interfaces (ARINC 825, 818, 708, 429) would be an asset
