Reporting to the VicePresident of Operations, the Director, Supply Chain oversees all sourcing, planning, procurement, estimating, material logistics, inventory management, and supplier quality related activities.

The Director, Supply Chain implements the appropriate strategies to support company objectives in delivering on-time products and services while reaching productivity and quality goals and drives both the continuous cost reductions initiatives and strategies to optimize inventory levels.

This Director works closely with the directors and managers of the various business units to harmonize the product demand plans in order to maintain world-class level of operational excellence.

  

As a Director, Supply Chain, your day-to-day responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the material demand and Sales and Operations planning process with the business unit representatives to support short term and long-term deliveries of products and services. Optimize the level of service provided to internal customers to meet their expectations and support them in achieving their sales goals.
  • Develop and execute procurement & materials management strategies in line with business units plans for acquiring equipment, material, subcontracting services, and logistics.
  • Plan manufacturing and repair of aerospace products with the planning department considering Operations capacity and work closely with manufacturing managers to meet sales plans.
  • Monitor market developments and projects undertaken by competitor companies in terms of purchasing strategy.
  • Lead improvement for material cost reduction initiatives concerning material supply, supplier management and material and logistics flow management. Forecast inventory and make recommendations to meet sales plans and long term forecast. Control inventory turns and develop last time buy strategies for components.   
  • Achieve functional objectives connected to material logistics plans including elimination of shortages, ontime delivery to world-class levels, inventory management and bills of material management.
  • Participate in the evaluation of business opportunities for in sourcing and outsourcing with potential profitability.
  • Develop tactical means in terms of organizational structure, resources, professional skills, budgets, equipment and systems to meet the performance objectives. Monitor budget performance for procurement, estimating, stores, logistics and supplier quality cost centers.
  • Inform regularly upper management to keep them abreast of material logistics operations and important strategic logistics issues.
  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors to improve delivery metrics.
  • Standardize the approach and working methods in the pursuit of maximum efficiency.
  • Oversee the resolution of supplier disputes/claims.
  • Provide support to company proposals in providing recommendations on strategic sourcing and developing strategies and plans. 
  • Assist in the review of company policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and training in the areas of procurement, supplier management, and internal logistics.
  • Maintain strong succession planning for his/her team with clear quarterly action plans.
  • Manage nonunionized as well as unionized employees including maintaining relationships with the union.
  • Respect and contribute to health and safety standards of the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, engineering, business administration or the equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain.
  • Experience in aeronautics or electronics required.
  • Experience within a multi-unit international environment is a nice to have.
