Sales Director, World-wide Sales

The Sales Director, World-wide Sales reports to the Vice-President, Sales and Marketing and is accountable for achieving the annual bookings target for CMC Electronics.

As a Sales Director, World-wide Sales, your day-to-tay responsibilities will include:

 

  • Accountable for capturing new business equal to or in excess of the company’s annual bookings target, and with bookings timed as forecasted in the company’s financial plan.
  • Manage all aspects of sales, from developing leads, responding to customer proposals, driving the internal approval process for bids to closing deals with customers.
  • Responsible for setting regional sales targets, managing the performance of the sales managers and supporting them as needed in key sales pursuits.
  • Leads the Sales Administration team members, Manager Sales Operations and Manager Contract Administration. 
  • Develops and maintains key customer relationships at the most senior management levels.
  • Ensures attention is dedicated to the company’s full product portfolio and promotes the breadth of the company’s experience across all markets.
  • Manages the overall strategy and the use of Sales Representatives and Agents by the company. Works closely with the Sales Managers in each territory to manage their performance.
  • Responsible for budgeting and managing overall sales department expenses.
  • Tracks the performance of the sales managers using regular Sales Pipeline reviews.
  • Provides regular and accurate bookings forecast and highlights when customer related risks arise and threaten the company financial plan.
  • Ensures the sales team is providing practical and actionable market intelligence (market trends, competitive information, regulatory issues, product strengths and weaknesses based on customer feedback, etc.) and contributes to CMC’s knowledge base.
  • Builds overall tradeshow and industry events strategy for CMC.
  • Improves sales tools over time, including making improvements to the company’s CRM.
  • Ensures sales managers are diligently using company tools to perform their work – example using CMC’s CRM to log contacts and deals
  • Works closely with business unit leaders to recommends changes or improvements to CMC’s products roadmaps, taking into account customer feedback whether positive or negative.

To join our team, you must hold:

  • Bachelor degree, ideally in Engineering (or Business, Sales or related field) with MBA as an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a similar position and leading teams in an aerospace context.
  • Self-starter, a bias for action.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Adept at leading teams in a matrix, international, and multicultural environment.
  • Emotionally intelligent, natural coach and mentor.
  • Ability to interpret market trends and customer behavior.
  • Understanding of aircraft avionics / flight / certification.
  • Experienced in negotiation of contracts for large, complex aerospace programs (defense programs an asset).
  • Strong network of aerospace leaders at OEMs and / or Tier 1 suppliers (with a network in defense OEMs as an asset).
  • Proficiency in English and good knowledge of French.

This position is based in Montreal, Quebec – Canada and requires travelling up to 50% of the time, to various locations to meet with clients, oversee teams, etc.
