Continuous Improvement Senior Advisor

Summary 

Key contributor to the company’s success, you support the achievement of organizational goals in all CMC’s departments by developing a culture of continuous improvement.

As part of a dynamic team and reporting to the Continuous Improvement Director, you identify opportunities and priorities, coach and train business unit members, and drive strategic continuous improvement projects with stakeholders from all levels of the organization.

As a Continuous Improvement Senior Advisor, you will be required to:

  • Identify opportunities, propose and support business transformation, guide business units in diagnosing, defining and prioritizing topics/opportunities
  • Plan, design, organize and facilitate gatherings, meetings, presentations and workshops related to improvement projects, and act as a facilitator and vector of change to mobilize partners in the transformation process
  • Support and facilitate project deployment by pragmatically applying continuous improvement principles (Lean/Six sigma, and others) to allow for simple processes and lasting productivity gains
  • Support partners in the organization through coaching, help them adopt the behaviours needed to develop a culture of continuous improvement
  • Standardize practices and develop partners’ ability to detect waste, problems, and opportunities, using tools to identify and implement solutions
  • Successfully coordinate (lead) improvement projects by directing multidisciplinary teams
  • Develop the skills and expertise of the teams and strengthen the continuous improvement culture. Develop and deliver interactive and engaging training and learning experiences
  • Ensure the effectiveness of deployed solutions and suggest opportunities for improvement. Ensure the sustainability and development of implemented initiatives
  • Help in defining performance indicators, implementing tools to track them, understanding them, and identifying sources of deviation
  • Identify, propose and support the development of tools or new technologies
  • Monitor continuous improvement and transformation best practices and events
  • Promote and share best practices inside and outside the company. 

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, administration, or other relevant fields, or a technical degree with relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience implementing Lean/Six sigma practices and associated tools
  • Excellent knowledge of process improvement tools
  • Six Sigma certification an asset
  • Leadership, strong project management skills, and focus on action and results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer focus, and strong teamwork and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Organizational skills, the ability to independently plan and manage multiple projects at once
  • Good knowledge of the change management process and problem-solving tools
  • Ability to actively engage and influence people
  • Experience in and the ability to lead/facilitate workshops and provide training
  • Sense of initiative and innovation
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize
  • Good oral and written communication in English and French
  • Proficiency in Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., and ease in using different information systems
  • Ability to use a statistical analysis tool such as Minitab an asset.
